LOCAL BUILDER WINS STATE AWARD FOR RENOVATIONS

Local building company Braeden Constructions has won a prestigious state building award at the recent Master Builders Association awards night held in Brisbane.

It received the award in the category of renovations up to $150,000 for a project they recently completed in Coolum. Mick Devlin of Braeden Constructions said it was the first time the company had entered the awards and it was pleasantly surprised when it won the regional award a couple of months ago.  However, it was really thrilled to have picked up the state award, especially in the renovation category, because it was judged equally on workmanship and value for money.

“We don’t usually do renovations.  Generally we specialise in architectural and commercial projects from the ground up, but we did this one to help a client out” Mr. Devlin said. “The end product is a credit to the contractors who worked on the job”.

The renovated home has since been bought by a leading Melbourne architect as a holiday home. The home now goes into the National Master Builders awards to compete against projects from all around Australia.

Mount Coolum House Built to Please

While a newly-renovated house in Frasco Court, Mt. Coolum would easily impress most passers-by, Noosa-based builder Michael Devlin never thought it would go so far as to gain accolades from judges at a national level, but that is exactly what has happened.  So much so, in fact, that Devlin and his company Braeden Constructions not only took out a Regional Building Award for their work on this particular house, but only weeks later came first in the ‘Renovations up to $150,000’ at the Master Builders Association awards night.

“I worked with Ben Thornton of SBT Design Noosa to help out a client who is in fact a leading Melbourne architect looking for a holiday home in an area as peaceful as Mount Coolum”, said Devlin, an ex-Victorian father of three who has been building on the Sunshine Coast now for three years.

And the fact that the home is situated in the Coolum precinct suited Devlin just fine, as he finds it a truly inspirational place for building design.

“I usually work with new architectural homes and commercial projects, so it was a real treat to plan they layout of this home that I can only describe as the true Queensland holiday beach house”, he said.

MOVERS AND SHAKERS BUILDING SUCCESS

Local Noosa Buiding company Braeden Constructions has been nominated in the QLD State Final of the Master Builders Accosication Housing awards which will take place in Brisbane tomorrow (Friday).

Braeden Constructions was successful in the $850,000 to $1.5 million category in the Sunshine Coast regional awards and is now up for the same category.  Mick Devlin from Braeden Constructions said: “We are very pleased that one of our homes was recognized by the judges in the regional awards and have high hopes for success in the state awards.

“This is a though category, as many architectural homes fall into the category from all over the state”.

The home at Peregian Beach was build for Dave Ward who will retire in the near future from Brisbane to the Sunshine Coast.

COMPANY DOES IT RIGHT

They have only ever entered the Master Builder Awards one other time and won under the Renovation category, so you could say Braeden Constructions are batting a 100% average. The last award-winning home went on to win the Queensland award and they are keeping their fingers crossed they can do the same this year.

Perched like a white washed Greek holiday home, the winning property is at Perigian Beach on a steep block.  Its three levels make the most of ocean views and the focus is on outdoor living.  Wood trim lends warmth to the stunning architecture and modern lines.  Mick Devlin said the judges understood the  difficulty of the site and appreciated the high quality and finish of the home.

Builder Mick Devlin, is a carpenter by trade.  This three bothers and father are also builders and he has a team of experienced and reliable contractors from whom to draw.

“They are not only skilled tradesmen but also great guys” he said.

The company must be doing something right because its business comes mostly from referrals or repeat business in the Noosa area.

“We listen to what the client wants and we are flexible about accommodating their needs”, Mick said.  “We always finish jobs on excellent terms with our clients and that’s very satisfying.”

Winner:   Braeden Constructions

Award:  Individual Home $850,000  to $1.5 Million.
